Moral Fabric recommendation
When an employee falls sick, the employer continues paying at least 70% of the salary for up to two years, plus the costs of guidance, reintegration and any replacement (see Ondernemersplein: Verzuimverzekering ). A verzuimverzekering reimburses these costs. For a team of one to ten people, one long-term sickness case can cost more than a full year's salary, which is why Moral Fabric considers this an important insurance for small employers.
What to check in the policy
Most policies have an own-risk period of a number of days before payments start, and a maximum payout. Employees who are already sick when the policy starts are not covered, so the employer arranges this cover before or at the first hire. Many insurers bundle the Arbodienst into the policy.
